TRAIL OF SIN

Tell my brain not to think
and my heart not to feel
caught up in this illusion
of what seemed real

allow the hands no beat
and silence my pen
as the tales of my scars
leave a trail of my sins

salvage whats left of me
pieces of a puzzled soul
empty like a summers breeze
on the verge of letting go

off the beaten path I've fallen
in hopes of regaining ground
within these words I might seem lost
but the painful truth I've found

bury now the unwanted past
reflected in the stars
embers of our sinning ways
are found within our scars
