WAVES OF LIFE
Broken
Like the waves of life
that crash over me
but resistant to failure
Expectations
A weight too profound to carry
in this demanding world
but still 100% I give
Determined
To over-come yet another daily
battle of being myself
where acceptance trips you up
Hopeful
In this positive out-come that
a struggling heart can over-come
this beautifully perfect mess
Adjust
Your over-educated eyes to
the views of another life
a battle to embrace difference
Empty
Heart I lay before you, to
witness the damage you have done
resilience found thru the scars
Judgment
Vows to breed intolerance and
devours the world of originality
preserve the right to be yourself
Resist
the standards of humankind and
compose a re-modeled version of beauty
my right as an American
